Conventional wisdom, personal choice, and current trends all have a part in helping you decide what the best arrangement for your photos &  picture frames will be. Here are some guidelines to help you to get started.

  A Large Single Frame

Give big photos importance and allow them to command the wall on which they hang by hanging them by themself. Oftentimes this really only works nicely with a pretty big picture frame; just make sure that you give some attention to scale.

Numerous Frames that are Identical in Size

If you have pairs of photos, hang them in a diagonal arrangement, with a little overlap – during the very middle of the twentieth century this set up was popular. Many people prefer, however, for pairs of frames to be hung symmetrically either beside each other or vertically, with one frame aligned above the other one.

 Clusters of Three

Although sets of three are generally hung up in a symmetrical way, this doesn’t have to be the case. For instance, three fun pictures in vibrant blue picture frames might look great in a kid’s room when hung asymmetrically, either in a diagonal line, or with the two outer frames level with the third in the middle, either slightly higher or slightly lower than the other frames. You also might like to hang three frames in sort of an “L” shape, placing the second one over the first, and the third frame to the right of the first, although this only looks good on certain walls.

  Groups of Four or More

When you have got four frames or more, then you would normally arrange them either in a straight line, or a block pattern such as a square or rectangle. If you’re hanging pictures that aren’t a “set” and are different dimensions, then here are some further tips:

 Creating a Wall of Photographs

You can mix and match various sizes and styles of frames to make a pattern on your wall that will look excellent. You might want all of these picture frames to be the same sort of frame or have a comparable theme, maybe all in black or silver frames; but at the same time these groups of photos can be a mixture of multiple colors and kinds. The art displayed can be a selection of family photographs or sports paraphernalia, travel photos or a combination of different types of art. Some photograph walls even incorporate other items like little mirrors, sconces, or other accessories.

There is no one best layout for a photo wall, but there are some guidelines. Groupings appear more natural when there is randomness. Bearing this in mind, you ought to make an effort to keep from being too symmetrical but at the same time have some symmetry- this might be done by lining up the bottom or the top of a frame with the frame next to it. Create balance so no single area looks too heavy or just too light by varying the frames and separating ones that have thick and thin sides. You shouldn’t space the frames a whole lot farther apart then about four inches between them. Any more than that and you risk individual pictures looking like they’re off on their own.

Last of all, pay attention to the overall shape of the photos layout – the outer border, whenever it can, should form a roughly symmetrical shape, such as a rectangle or oval. Picture this: if you were to draw the shape on the wall, would the frames be balanced within it? If this is the case, you should have yourself a nice picture wall arrangement. If not, it is time for some tweaking.

Have patience and follow the guidelines given, and you are sure to end up having a photos wall arrangement that everyone will admire.

If you’re getting ready to make some great photo arrangements on your walls but you simply don’t know where to start, then this article will give you some excellent ideas.
