Different types of water for day-to-day use

Luckily, we can choose what type of water we want to drink – bottled water, tap water or filtered water.

In the last twenty years, beverage companies have made a great fortune just by making people suspicious of tap water from their homes. However, there is basically no evidence that bottled water is safer for your health than public water. On the contrary, one-fourth of bottled water is nothing but tap water, with or without extra filtration. What’s more, bottled water regulations are often inadequate to assure consumers of cleanliness and safety. For example, bottled water often contains cryptosporidium, a dangerous parasite and a serious health threat to those with weakened immune systems and the elderly.

What is also interesting is that bottled water also contain less or none fluoride in comparison with tap water. People who drink solely bottled water could be missing the benefits of this chemical, especially concerning oral health issues.

What about tap water? In most circumstances, tap water is just fine. It contains everything you and your family need to stay hydrated and healthy. However, public water may still pick up some dangerous contaminants on the way to your house such as arsenic,  lead, or barium. Just to name a few! Potentially, those chemicals can cause a number of health problems such as nausea, stomach pain, or even some types of cancer.

Filtered water is maybe the best option for those who are concerned about health and environmental issues. With a proper water filter such as UV sterilizer, the quality of tap water can be drastically improved. Besides that, drinking filtered water costs much less than drinking bottled water and if you are concerned about the environment and human rights, we have a good news for you – there are numerous examples of environmental degradation, landfill waste, and human rights abuse associated with bottled water companies around the planet and none with filtered water. There are more to it, so let’s examine closer the benefits of this type of water.

The surprising benefits of filtered water in your home

By removing chlorine residues, pesticide, and hundreds of bacterial contaminants, water filters grant better tasting and smelling of your water. This is probably most important to those who do not like the way tap water tastes and smells and continue to spend a fortune on bottled water just because of it.

Moreover, by removing those dangerous chemicals, as mentioned before,  water filters also reduce the risk of all kinds of health problems such as rectal cancer, colon cancer, and bladder cancer. Drinking clean and filtered water, on the contrary, leads to better health and protects your body from different kinds of diseases. Take a cryptosporidium and giardia, for example. By removing those chlorine-resistant protozoans from your drinking water, water filters drastically reduce the risk of gastrointestinal diseases.

Besides that, clean and filtered water is especially beneficial for growing children and their good mental and physical development. Many learning disorders, for example, can be prevented only by providing clean and purified water to our children.

Or just think about the money you spend on bottled water day after day! The purchase of a countertop filter or an ultraviolet treatment filter will cost much less than bottled water in the long run. What’s more, an enormous amount of fossil fuels is used for the production and transport of bottled water and more than a half of used plastic bottles are not even recycled. Not to mention bottled water corporations which profit from privatizing aquifers around the globe and pumping them dry.

To conclude, you can both save your health, money and our environment by filtering water rather than buying bottled one. Filtered water in your home is much safer, healthier and cheaper than both tap and bottled water. Simply said, there is no better choice for both purity and economy than filtered water.
