Measure it All
Yes, this seems like it should go without saying, but it cannot be stressed enough. You need to measure the room in which you are planning to build in the home bar and make sure that the bar will leave enough room for you to move around the home while it is there. Also, you need to take measurements about how much space it can take, where the installations are and how wide and high it will be. This will all go into the calculations about the material and the price of the entire project, so don’t hesitate to make a model of Styrofoam or something similar at first before using the real material.

Place and Type
There are many types of built in  bars and once you measure up all the things around that room, you will know which type you can make. First of all, you can simply use  wood to make a simple bar and put it between the sink and the rest of the room. That is the home bar that most people think about when they think about building the home bar. That is the closest to the ones that you are used to looking at in cafes. However, if you don’t have enough space, there is the option of making a hole in the wall between the dining room and the kitchen and improvise a home bar there. It will resemble a window but with careful decoration and planning, it will turn into a real bar. Another option, when there is no room whatsoever for external parts of the bar, you can just build it in the wall, just like a liquor cabinet. It all depends on the space you have.

Material
Depending on the type of the home bar, your interior in general and all the other factors, including price, there are tons of materials that you can use. For the basic pub like bar, you can use wood and treat it in a way that it is water resistant. The sink and the working surface can be chrome, metal or any other material that the kitchen elements are usually made of. Also, a very good idea are stone or marble bars as they are water resistant and easy to clean.

Furniture
When you are all done with choosing the home bar, you need to pay attention to the furniture surrounding it. You will need some kitchen elements for the classic bar style or at least some cabinets or lights for other types of bars. Lighting is extremely important. It can make the bar the entirely separate and emphasized part of the room and that is the while point. Lower the lamps all the way from the ceiling to the bar and cover them with some interesting screen. Also, you can decorate it quite nicely with wine holders that seem interesting, great glasses and other accessories that you will definitely need. Don’t forget the ice machine since there is no good home bar without it.

Assortment
Once the home bar is ready, it is time to fill it with drinks. You don’t have to have tons of drinks at it at all times, but a several bottles are just enough. Go with basics and always have at least one bottle of whiskey, vodka, red wine and delicious sweet white wine. These are drinks that can be served instantly and some of them serve as a basis for many cocktails.

Once you get everything into your home bar, make sure that you also have appropriate glasses for different types of drinks as they will really give the whole thing a nice and classy touch.
