Managing with too much luggage may not be the best side of the moving. It is not fun to downsize your items, especially when you have already had to live the stress of moving to a smaller house or apartment. That is why it is very important to choose the things you are going to sell or donate from those which will stay with you very carefully, as you try to keep it together both for you and for your relatives and family that are moving with you.

Surely to separate the thing you have on two major groups is the first task you have to accomplish. For those which will be taken it is easy, but you also have to decide what should be done with the others that will be left behind. Sometimes these are belongings to a relative that has died and this is the reason for the moving. For example if you have lost one parent and have to take the other to live with you, you have to be very careful with the decision what to be done with the things that have belonged to him or her. Do not force anyone that is taking part in this process, it is hard enough anyway.

When you are moving to a smaller place because of economic or any other reasons, be sure that you have visited or have seen detailed pictures of the new house or apartment you are going to. This will significantly help you with the decision of the stuff you will be taking and leaving behind during the Northwood moving home process. Be prepared that you may have to buy some new furniture that will fit best the new space, so sell without any feeling of guilt some of the old which is very large. This will save you many efforts for dragging it in and out to the truck and to the new place, without any need.

The same rule goes with everything that is inside your old space. So this is why it is the most important part of the downsizing to stay calm and to be patient.

Be understanding and keep calm with every member of the family. Leave everyone who is grown enough to take their own decisions. This will save you energy and will help you avoid future misunderstandings for some items, which you have taken for useless, but they happened to be valuable for the others.

However it is not good idea to take many things that are worn out or too old. They do not have long further life and will be waist of time and sources to bring them to the new place.
